Shortly after farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal agreed to take medical aid, 121 protesting farmers called off their hunger strike. This development also comes after the Union government agreed to meet the protesting farmers in February 2025.

Farmers' Protest: Dallewal Accepts Aid

Fasting farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal agreed to take medical aid after a group of representatives from the Centre invited the protesting farmers for talks next month.

Dallewal, who is also a cancer patient, has been on hunger strike since November 26, 2024. The farmer leader had been demanding legal guarantees for MSP and other requirements of the farmers.

On Saturday, Dallewal accepted medical aid but maintained he would continue his fast-unto-death.

Farmers from Punjab and Haryana started their hunger strike on January 15 and 17okebet, respectively, in solidarity with Jagjit Singh Dallewal.
