A few days before the Delhi Assembly elections, in a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, urged urgent action to address the critical issues plaguing public healthcare, particularly for patients outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.

Following a visit to night shelters near AIIMS Delhi, Gandhi expressed deep concern over the difficult conditions faced by patients and their families who travel from all over India to seek treatment at the renowned hospital. He described how patients were enduring severe winter conditions with inadequate shelter, sanitation, and water facilities.

“I was disheartened to see hundreds of patients and their families huddled on the footpath and in the subway, battling the bitter cold with only thin blankets for warmth,” Gandhi wrote. He highlighted the immense emotional and financial strain on patients,PESO99 official many of whom spend their life savings and wait for months for treatment.
